Astrological Crystals and Gems

astrological crystals

Most of us are aware of the healing and mood enhancing properties of crystals, but do crystals have any astrological significance, and if so, how can you choose the best crystal for you?

As a general rule, the best benefits can be obtained by wearing or using the stones represented by the strongest or most favourably aspected planets in your natal chart.

Astrology FAQ Part 2

Astrology FAQ

Q.    So if we don’t know ‘how’ astrology works, how can we be so sure that it does?

A.    It is evidence from experience and from research that convinces astrologers that astrology does indeed ‘work’. The rich descriptive theory that has evolved over thousands of years provides for a deep understanding of human nature and the capacity for prediction of the type of circumstances which will prevail during specific time periods.

Astrology FAQ Part 1

Astrology FAQ

Q.    Astrology is all just about sun signs, isn’t it? I know I’m a Libra, what else is there to know?

A.    Astrology is most definitely not just about sun signs. The sun is an important factor in any natal chart, but there are hundreds of other variables to take into account. The popularity of ‘sun signs’ arose because of the sun’s steady, predictable movement – the sign into which the sun falls on any given day is just about the only thing it is easy for a lay-person to see without calculation. Clearly, however, there are only 12 signs of the zodiac, so one twelfth of all humanity is ‘a Libra’ etc. Making generalisations so vast can only ever be symbolic,

Ask an Astrologer: Born on the Cusp?

bornonthecusp

‘I was born ‘on the cusp’ between Taurus and Gemini. Which horoscope should I read, and is my personality affected by the other sign at all? I sense that I must be a Taurus, rather than a Gemini, and I would be interested to know if this is true.”

This is an interesting question, because it neatly illustrates one of the common misconceptions about astrology. When reading sun sign columns, someone born on the cusp is often unable to tell which of the two possible sun signs to read.

Precession of the Equinoxes: Doesn’t It Disprove Astrology?

precessionoftheequinoxes

Opponents of astrology often claim that astrology in invalid because most of what we call Aries is now “in Pisces”, most of Taurus is “in Aries” etc. Much hilarity ensues as sceptics point out that you’re not actually “a Virgo” (or whatever) because the precession of the equinoxes means that you’re actually “a Leo”. Smirks all round from the clever experts. Are they right? Doesn’t the precession disprove astrology? After all, how can astrology be valid of the points we refer to in space are no longer in the same positions as they were thousands of years ago?

The Astrology of Love: Synastry

loveastrology

Relationship analysis, or synastry, is a fascinating branch of astrology. I always find it so interesting to note how different personalities play together, and how one personality might find so-and-so a perfect match whilst another personality might find the same so-and-so intensely irritating! Common misconceptions about synastry are that certain sun signs ‘go well’ together, and others do not.

The Astrology of Death

Astrology and Death

“Can astrology predict someone’s death? What would you look for in an astrology chart if you were looking for death?”

This question is a morbid but fascinating one. Vedic astrologers firmly believe that they can accurately predict death; as a general rule, Western astrologers tend not to believe that this is possible. Some astrologers who like to work with what are termed “traditional” or “classical” systems, typically pre-medieval in origin, do use techniques which are said to be able to predict death – but with mixed results, it must be said.

Premature & Caesarean Birth: An Astrological Mis-inheritance?

The Astrology of Premature Birth

Astrologers believe that your natal chart is a blueprint of who you are. But what if you were not born when you were supposed to be? What about premature babies or elective caesarean births? Will babies born “at the wrong time” be affected by having the wrong birth chart? Well, since our daughter, Emily Dana, was born 9 weeks prematurely AND by caesarean, I feel particularly well suited to answering this question!

Astrological Fertility: Pregnancy by the Stars

Astrological Fertility and Lunar Pregnancy Planning

Can a woman be fertile twice in one month? That is the question that faced the Czech psychiatrist Dr Eugene Jonas in the 1950′s. Significantly, it was through astrology that he found his answer.

Confessions of a Horoscope Writer

Until recently, I had a dirty little secret. I write horoscopes. Or at least, I used to. Now it’s not such a dirty little secret because a) I’ve just told you and b) there aren’t that many horoscope clients left in my portfolio any more, anyway. But back in the day
